AI Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking an AI Engineer to support an innovative organization in the technology industry in the Raleigh, Durham North Carolina area. The AI Engineer role is ideal for an experienced engineer with strong full stack JavaScript/TypeScript expertise and hands-on experience delivering AI-powered applications into production.

Responsibilities of the AI Engineer:

• Develop full stack web applications using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

• Build and maintain data pipelines to support AI/ML workloads.

• Implement RAG-based or RPC-driven AI workflows.

• Integrate generative AI capabilities into web or mobile applications.

• Deliver end-to-end AI features including use case definition, architecture, data onboarding, model training/testing, and production release.

• Work in a hybrid environment with onsite presence 3 days per week.

Qualifications of the AI Engineer:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.

• 3–5 years of full stack engineering experience.

• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript experience (React + Node).

• 1–2 years of practical AI experience involving data pipelines, RAG, and generative AI integration.

• Proven experience shipping AI-enabled products or features into production (required).

• AWS experience preferred but not required.

Compensation for the AI Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $165,000 - $185,000

• Hybrid work schedule with 3 days onsite per week
