Piper Companies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Project Manager to join our Planning, Design, & Construction team. This role is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of complex healthcare construction projects, with a specific focus on site buildouts (renovations/expansions) and IT infrastructure integration.
As a key member of the team, you will bridge the gap between physical construction and technical requirements, ensuring that new medical spaces—ranging from clinical laboratories to outpatient offices—are delivered on time, within budget, and equipped with state-of-the-art IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Manage all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction planning through final close-out and occupancy.
- Site Buildouts & Renovations: Lead interior renovations and buildouts, coordinating demolition, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and finishes, particularly within occupied healthcare environments.
- IT Infrastructure Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between construction teams and IT/IS departments to coordinate structured cabling, data center installation, network closets, and clinical technology integration.
- Budget & Schedule Management: Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, schedules, contracts, and change orders.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Oversee subcontractor performance, vendor contracts, and safety compliance.
- Quality & Safety: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory standards, including Joint Commission (JCAHO) and Department of Health.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to facility leadership, clinical managers, and IT stakeholders regarding project scope, risks, and mitigation.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive construction project management experience.
- Specialized Knowledge: Proven experience managing site buildouts (commercial or healthcare) and IT infrastructure projects (cabling, server rooms, data centers).
- Healthcare Experience: Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with project management software, CAD, and MS Office Suite.
- Certifications: PMP or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) is a plus.
Critical Success Factors
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of technical IT scopes in a physical construction context.
- Excellent communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations in a high-paced, academic medical environment.
