Senior Python Developer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Python Developer to join a professional services firm focused exclusively on the EdTech space. This is a REMOTE opportunity (US-based).

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable Python-based backend systems for web applications
• Build and maintain APIs, with strong preference for FastAPI
• Collaborate with other developers and cross-functional project teams
• Work directly with clients to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Contribute to architecture, performance optimization, and cloud deployments (primarily AWS)
• Write clean, production-ready, testable code
• Step into multiple areas as needed within professional services engagements

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong Python backend development experience (FastAPI preferred)
• Required experience in the EdTech industry
• Experience building modern web applications and APIs
• AWS experience preferred (some Azure exposure is a plus)
• Client-facing or consulting experience strongly preferred
• Experience working in React-based environments nice-to-have, not required
• Senior/lead-level communication skills and ability to operate independently
• Open edX experience is a plus
• Experience integrating LLMs or AI services into web applications preferred
• Microservices or cloud-native architecture experience

Compensation for the Senior Project Manager:

• Annual salary: up to $145,000
