Piper Companies is looking for a Mechanical Architect - Cable Backplane Systems to join a global leader in high‑speed interconnect and cable technologies while providing senior‑level technical leadership to support the design and development of advanced cable backplane solutions. The idea Mechanical Architect - Cable Backplane Systems will work on site out of Valley Green, PA, Austin, TX, Seattle, WA. Nashua, NH, or Santa Clara, CA
Responsibilities for the Mechanical Architect - Cable Backplane Systems:
- Lead system‑level mechanical design for next‑generation high‑speed cable backplane products, guiding programs from concept through production.
- Act as the primary technical interface with OEM customers, driving engineering discussions, resolving complex issues, and ensuring alignment across teams.
- Develop mechanical specifications, modeling packages, prototypes, and performance requirements that support thermal, structural, and high‑speed signal needs.
- Influence product direction by providing strategic insights, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Architect - Cable Backplane Systems:
- 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer supporting interconnect, cable, connector, or complex electro‑mechanical systems.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
- Strong background in mechanical design principles such as tolerance analysis, materials behavior, and CAD modeling (ProE/SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience working with cross‑functional engineering teams and engaging directly with OEM customers.
- Familiarity with high‑speed interconnect requirements including thermal considerations, mechanical alignment, and structural integrity.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical findings to clients and internal teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
Compensation/Benefits for the Mechanical Architect - Cable Backplane Systems:
- Salary Range: $170,000 – $200,000 depending on experience and location.
