Piper Companies is seeking a Data Scientist to support a leading organization in the advanced analytics and technology industry. The Data Scientist role is ideal for an experienced professional with strong expertise in machine learning model development, MLOps, and cloud‑based data engineering workflows.


Responsibilities of the Data Scientist:

• Develop machine learning models using Python, PySpark, SQL, R, Databricks, and Amazon SageMaker AI.

• Engineer features and apply advanced modeling techniques, including regularization methods such as LASSO.

• Build and maintain ML pipelines with a strong emphasis on MLOps best practices.

• Create complex SQL queries for testing, validation, and analytical use cases.

• Perform model tuning, evaluation, and governance to support production deployment.

• Utilize MLFlow, GitHub, Docker, and other ecosystem tools for ML lifecycle management.

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to identify and source the proper data for modeling.

• Evaluate model and system performance, ensuring reliability and continuous improvement.

• Troubleshoot issues across data, model, and pipeline layers.

• Contribute to a problem‑solving, analytical, and collaborative engineering environment.


Qualifications of the Data Scientist:

• Proven experience developing machine learning models and features using Python, PySpark, SQL, R, Databricks, and Amazon SageMaker.

• Expertise with regularization models, especially LASSO.

• Hands-on experience building ML pipelines and implementing MLOps practices.

• Strong SQL skills for complex data analysis and validation.

• Experience with model tuning, governance, and ML evaluation frameworks.

• Proficiency with MLFlow, GitHub, Docker, and related tools.

• Ability to work effectively with engineering teams to source accurate, high-quality data.

• Strong analytical abilities and a problem‑solving mindset.


Compensation for the Data Scientist includes:

• Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000

• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO

• Remote work flexibility
