Platform Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Platform Engineer to support a leading data center provider in strengthening and scaling their cloud and infrastructure environments. The Platform Engineer will focus on IaC, security hardening, and compliance alignment with SOC 2 and NIST frameworks.

Responsibilities of the Platform Engineer:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for scalable and secure environments.

• Implement and manage VPC configurations, subnets, routing, and traffic controls to ensure secure and efficient cloud networking.

• Apply system hardening standards and best practices aligned with SOC 2 and NIST compliance requirements.

• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewall technologies and security controls.

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance and security events using CloudWatch and related observability tools.

Qualifications of the Platform Engineer:

• 3–5 years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles.

• Strong hands-on expertise with Terraform and other IaC tools.

• Solid understanding of VPC architecture, traffic flows, routing, and cloud network security.

• Experience implementing controls aligned to SOC 2 and/or NIST standards.

• Proficiency with firewall configuration, traffic management, and network security tooling.

• Experience with AWS CloudWatch or similar cloud monitoring frameworks.

Compensation for the Platform Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $100,000 – $115,000 depending on experience
