Network Security Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Security Engineer to support a growing organization within the technology industry. The Network Security Engineer will play a critical role in strengthening the company’s security posture through governance frameworks, network hardening, and hands‑on configuration of enterprise security tools.

Responsibilities of the Network Security Engineer:

• Implement, maintain, and optimize network security controls aligned with NIST 800‑53 and SOC 2 requirements.

• Conduct internal security audits, risk assessments, and evidence collection to support compliance initiatives.

• Harden network infrastructure through secure configuration practices and continuous monitoring.

• Manage and improve security tools including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, SIEM, and vulnerability scanners.

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to respond to incidents, analyze threats, and coordinate remediation activities.

Qualifications of the Network Security Engineer:

• 3–5 years of hands‑on network security engineering experience.

• Strong knowledge of NIST 800‑53 and SOC 2 trust service criteria and audit expectations.

• Proficiency with enterprise security tools (firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management).

• Demonstrated experience configuring and hardening network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).

• Familiarity with incident analysis, threat detection, and SOC workflows.

Compensation for the Network Security Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $100,000 – $115,000 depending on experience
