Piper Companies is seeking a Process Engineer to support a rapidly growing organization within the life sciences manufacturing sector for a 12-month onsite contract engagement based out of Durham, NC. The Process Engineer will contribute to a multi‑phase laboratory upgrade involving new utilities, updated process systems, and turnover activities.
Responsibilities of the Process Engineer include:
· Perform reviews of process drawings, including P&IDs, and update redlines to reflect current configurations
· Support installation and integration of new lab systems such as autoclave equipment, cold‑storage units, and utility tie‑ins
· Lead field walkdowns during construction milestones to verify system readiness and identify discrepancies
· Investigate undocumented historical modifications and align process documentation with actual system conditions
· Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain consistent process standards across all expansion phases
Qualifications for the Process Engineer include:
· Experience supporting laboratory or GMP‑adjacent utility and process systems
· Ability to interpret technical drawings and perform accurate field verification
· Strong analytical and organizational abilities with attention to detail
· Proven ability to work independently and close process gaps proactively
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
Compensation for the Process Engineer:
Salary Range: $160,000-$180,000/year (USD)
