Automation Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking an Automation Engineer to join a cutting‑edge life sciences organization undergoing significant lab modernization for a 12-month onsite contract engagement based out of Durham, NC. The Automation Engineer will help strengthen data integrity systems, automation connectivity, and digital infrastructure enhancements across the facility.

Responsibilities of the Automation Engineer include:

· Support implementation and onboarding of new data retention platforms and backup solutions

· Assist with configuration of ICN systems and integration of vendor‑supplied PCs into existing automation layers

· Collaborate with utilities, commissioning, and validation teams to ensure automated systems meet readiness requirements

· Align new automation components with existing BMS and OSI PI environments

· Review vendor automation deliverables and provide clarity on system expectations

Qualifications for the Automation Engineer include:

· Hands‑on experience with building automation systems, OSI PI, or comparable process data platforms

· Understanding of data integrity requirements within regulated or semi‑regulated environments

· Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and automation integration challenges

· Strong communication skills for cross‑functional coordination

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, or a related field

Compensation for the Automation Engineer:

Salary Range: $175,000-$195,000/year
