System Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator to support infrastructure operations for a large enterprise within the technology industry. The Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator will focus on Linux-based environments, automation, and system reliability.

Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator:

• Administer, maintain, and optimize CentOS-based server environments

• Develop automation scripts using Python to streamline operational tasks

• Implement and support infrastructure automation frameworks

• Monitor system performance, reliability, and security posture

• Support configuration management, patching, and system hardening

• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to ensure compliant and stable environments

Qualifications of the Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator:

• 5+ years of experience administering Linux environments, preferably CentOS

• Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and tooling

• Experience with configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, or similar)

• Strong understanding of system processes, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting

• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and log aggregation tools

• Ability to work in fast-paced enterprise technical environments

Compensation for the Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator includes:

• Salary range: $130,000 – $155,000 depending on experience
