Cyber Investigator

Piper Companies is seeking a Cyber Investigator to support a cybersecurity‑focused organization within the technology industry. The Cyber Investigator will analyze attacker behaviors, understand TTPs (tactics, techniques, and procedures), and apply this knowledge to threat detection and investigations.

Responsibilities of the Cyber Investigator:

• Leverage TTP analysis to investigate suspicious activity and potential intrusions

• Differentiate between attacker tactics (goals), techniques (methods), and procedures (specific steps/tools)

• Conduct investigations into alerts, incidents, and anomalies across the environment

• Translate TTP knowledge into improved detection logic and investigative workflows

• Collaborate with threat intelligence, engineering, and SOC teams to refine detections

• Document investigation findings, timelines, and root cause analysis

Qualifications of the Cyber Investigator:

• 3–5+ years of experience in cyber investigations, threat hunting, or SOC analysis

• Strong understanding of attacker behaviors, MITRE ATT&CK, and TTP breakdowns

• Experience analyzing logs, alerts, cases, and evidence to identify malicious activity

• Ability to map attacker actions to detection opportunities

• Familiarity with malware families, phishing techniques, or intrusion methodologies

• Excellent written documentation and analytical skills

Compensation for the Cyber Investigator includes:

• Salary range: $115,000 – $130,000 depending on experience
