Systems Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Systems Engineer for a world-leading technology organization in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. The Systems Engineer role is hybrid position. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for building and implementing tools related to security monitoring, with a focus on CentOS and RHEL environments. An ideal candidate for the Systems Engineer role is an experienced professional with strong expertise in system administration, automation, and Python scripting.

Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer:

• Manage and maintain CentOS and RHEL systems.
• Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline system management tasks.
• Build and implement tools related to security monitoring.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure system reliability and security.
• Create and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures.

Qualifications of the Systems Engineer:

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or administration.
• Strong knowledge of CentOS and RHEL operating systems.
• Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages, particularly Python.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Compensation for the Systems Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $125,000 - $160,000 depending on experience
