Piper Companies is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead the full development cycle of complex hardware systems—from concept through production. This role oversees system‑level designs involving high‑speed optical and electrical interfaces, ASICs, processors, FPGAs, power delivery, cabling, and cooling. You’ll partner closely with product, architecture, ASIC, software, and ODM/JDM teams to drive specifications, design reviews, SI/PI analysis, prototyping, validation, and release to manufacturing. This is a senior leadership role requiring onsite presence in Saratoga, CA, five days per week.
Responsibilities for the Hardware Engineering Manager include:
- Leading and growing the hardware engineering team, including hiring, mentorship, and performance development.
- Driving cross‑functional alignment by turning high‑level product requirements into clear, detailed hardware specifications.
- Overseeing hardware design execution, including schematic development, PCB layout, and design reviews.
- Managing all Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis activities for high‑speed systems.
- Developing technology de‑risking plans through supplier assessments and early prototype cycles.
- Owning test strategy and execution across Bring‑Up, EDVT, MDVT, and EMI/EMC validation.
- Guiding systems from early prototype builds through full production while meeting quality, cost, schedule, and budget goals.
- Managing ODM/JDM partners and ensuring all deliverables are on time and meet quality expectations.
Qualifications for the Hardware Engineering Manager include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required; Master’s degree a plus.
- 10+ years of system‑level hardware development experience in server, compute, or networking products.
- Strong background in high‑speed interfaces including Ethernet, PCIe, SerDes, and optical modules.
- Deep understanding of high‑speed design principles, as well as signal‑ and power‑integrity best practices.
- Working knowledge of FPGA development flows, power system design, and clocking architectures.
- Solid grasp of system‑level hardware concepts, including chassis design, connectors, cabling, and thermal management.
- Proven track record delivering production‑quality hardware using industry‑standard development and release processes.
Compensation for the Hardware Engineering Manager includes:
· Salary range: $210,000 - $2700,000
