Lead Data Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect to join a leading healthcare organization. This is a Hybrid opportunity and plays a critical role in shaping enterprise‑wide data architecture, cloud infrastructure, and long‑term data strategy. The Enterprise Data Architect will define large‑scale data solutions, establish governance frameworks, drive innovation through emerging technologies, and partner with executives to align data capabilities with business and clinical objectives. This position is essential to ensuring the organization’s data ecosystem is modern, scalable, compliant, and optimized for transformation.

Responsibilities of the Enterprise Data Architect:

• Define enterprise‑level data architecture and long‑term infrastructure strategy.
• Lead the design and modernization of advanced data warehouses, data lakes, and hybrid cloud architectures.
• Drive adoption of automation, DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD best practices for data platforms.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI/ML capabilities and advanced analytics tooling.
• Partner with executives and key stakeholders to ensure data infrastructure aligns with business and healthcare operational strategy.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor across data engineering, BI, product, and cloud teams.
• Oversee cloud capacity planning, resource optimization, performance tuning, and cost governance.
• Troubleshoot escalated cloud or data platform issues and collaborate with vendors and internal technical teams.
• Work closely with DevOps, Security, and Product teams on cloud roadmaps, governance controls, and platform maturity.

Qualifications / Requirements for Enterprise Data Architect:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or cloud infrastructure.
• Proven ability to influence organizational strategy and drive innovation in enterprise environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL (non‑negotiable).
• Hands‑on experience implementing CI/CD for data systems (non‑negotiable).
• Expertise with Azure Fabric (non‑negotiable), Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar tools.
• Experience designing ETL pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and enterprise‑grade data integrations.
• Deep understanding of BI ecosystems, semantic modeling, and analytics architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Azure resource management, identity, security controls, and cloud governance.
• Experience with data warehousing platforms, cloud ecosystems, and enterprise data governance frameworks.
• Healthcare experience and familiarity with compliance requirements preferred.

Compensation:

• $150,000 base salary
• 2 days ONSITE, Fort Washington, PA
• Additional incentives may include bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition programs.
