Platform Engineer - Mid Level

Piper Companies is seeking an Active Directory & Platform Engineer to join a leading organization. This is a Hybrid opportunity located in Fort Washington, PA and plays a critical role in supporting and modernizing enterprise‑wide identity services, authentication systems, and certificate infrastructure. The Active Directory & Platform Engineer will administer domain services, manage PKI and certificate lifecycle processes, drive automation through PowerShell, and collaborate with security and platform teams to ensure a highly available and secure identity ecosystem. This position is essential to ensuring the organization’s infrastructure is resilient, scalable, compliant, and optimized for long‑term platform maturity.

Responsibilities of the Active Directory & Platform Engineer:

• Administer, maintain, and enhance Windows Active Directory domains, Group Policy, OU structure, and core domain services.
• Manage PKI, digital certificates, Certificate Authorities (CA), CRLs, OCSP responders, and certificate lifecycle processes.
• Support enterprise identity and access services, including authentication, authorization, and directory integrations.
• Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of Active Directory and certificate services.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize PowerShell scripts to automate operational tasks, system maintenance, and reporting.
• Build automation workflows that reduce manual effort and increase reliability.
• Implement and maintain security best practices across AD, PKI, and authentication systems.
• Work with Security teams to support compliance efforts, regulatory controls, and audit requirements.
• Conduct regular access reviews, permissions audits, and vulnerability remediation.
• Monitor system health, performance, replication, and platform capacity.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving authentication, certificates, domain controllers, GPO failures, and replication problems.
• Lead incident response efforts related to identity platform outages or degradation.

Qualifications / Requirements for Active Directory & Platform Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in Active Directory administration and enterprise identity services.
• Strong hands‑on experience with PKI, certificate services, CA management, CRL/OCSP, and certificate lifecycle workflows.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation (non‑negotiable).
• Deep understanding of Windows Server, Group Policy, authentication protocols, and domain controller architecture.
• Experience implementing and supporting enterprise identity security controls.
• Strong troubleshooting experience with domain services, replication, GPO, and authentication failures.
• Knowledge of cloud identity platforms (Azure AD / Entra ID) preferred.
• Experience working in regulated environments (finance, healthcare, government) is a plus.

Compensation::

• $100,000-$115,000 Base salary
• Hybrid, 2-3 days ONSITE
• Additional incentives may include bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition programs.
