Piper Companies is seeking a Rare Disease Specialty Sales Representative to drive strategic territory performance, build strong stakeholder relationships, and support patient access within the rare disease community. The Specialty Sales Representative will collaborate closely with Market Access, Medical Affairs, leadership, and care teams to ensure providers and patients receive the highest level of support. This is a field‑based position requiring up to 60% travel, including overnight trips based on territory needs. This is a full time position located in Manhattan, NY.
Responsibilities for the Rare Disease Specialty Sales Representative include:
· Consistently exceeding territory sales goals while upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
· Developing and executing strategic business plans grounded in deep knowledge of local market dynamics.
· Mastering rare disease therapeutic areas, including patient journeys, standards of care, and treatment drivers.
· Serving as a trusted resource for physicians, pharmacists, and healthcare providers on tools, programs, and services that support rare disease patients.
· Expanding expertise across all relevant stakeholders—treating/referring physicians, payers, hospital systems, pharmacies, labs, and other care‑continuum partners.
· Maintaining strong payer relationships to ensure providers have current coverage, reimbursement, and access information.
· Building partnerships with patient advocacy groups to support education and disease awareness initiatives.
Qualifications for the Rare Disease Specialty Sales Representative include:
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
· 8+ years of field‑based experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare sales, account management, or reimbursement
· 4+ years of experience in rare disease pharmaceuticals/biologics.
· Expertise with Buy‑and‑Bill medical benefits, Specialty Pharmacy, and HUB service models.
· Proven track record of high-sales performance ranking within the top 30% nationally.
· Experience contributing to successful product launches.
· Background in oncology, hematology, or other specialty reimbursement categories involving specialty pharmacy workflows.
· Experience with promotional products requiring REMS compliance.
· Experience calling on academic centers, community practices, hospitals, and private offices.
· Ability to travel up to 60% with required overnights.
Compensation for the Rare Disease Specialty Sales Representative includes:
· Salary range: $170,000 - $210,000
