Zachary Piper is seeking a Level II Estimator in Tysons VA, to support project teams and senior estimators in preparing cost estimates for bids and proposals involving communications and low-voltage systems, including telecommunications, security, paging, audio‑visual, nurse‑call, and pathway systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist with data gathering and preparation of bid and design/build estimates.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
- Perform material and labor take-offs; price change orders; conduct site visits.
- Identify required materials/equipment and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Apply cost fundamentals and maintain current pricing from suppliers and contractors.
- Prepare bid packages and obtain subcontractor/vendor quotes.
- Conduct site surveys.
- Support project teams with documentation and layout preparation.
- Help develop project budgets and manpower allocations.
- Contribute to design/build estimates based on design criteria.
- Assist with writing RFPs and scopes of work.
- Follow bid procedures and complete bid forms.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and best practices.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in communications or low-voltage systems preferred.
- 1–3 years of estimating and proposal development experience.
- Familiarity with low-voltage equipment, materials, and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and contract documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with estimating software and performing take-offs.
- AccuBid experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Reliable attendance at customer sites; flexible schedule including occasional evenings/weekends.
- Up to 25% travel; valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
- Extended use of computers and sitting for long periods.
- Ability to reach, handle objects, and use fine motor skills (e.g., keyboarding).
- Ability to listen, speak clearly, read, and understand written and verbal information.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
- Benefits: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Sick Leave (as required by law)
