Level II Estimator

Zachary Piper is seeking a Level II Estimator in Tysons VA, to support project teams and senior estimators in preparing cost estimates for bids and proposals involving communications and low-voltage systems, including telecommunications, security, paging, audio‑visual, nurse‑call, and pathway systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data gathering and preparation of bid and design/build estimates.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
• Perform material and labor take-offs; price change orders; conduct site visits.
• Identify required materials/equipment and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Apply cost fundamentals and maintain current pricing from suppliers and contractors.
• Prepare bid packages and obtain subcontractor/vendor quotes.
• Conduct site surveys.
• Support project teams with documentation and layout preparation.
• Help develop project budgets and manpower allocations.
• Contribute to design/build estimates based on design criteria.
• Assist with writing RFPs and scopes of work.
• Follow bid procedures and complete bid forms.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and best practices.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in communications or low-voltage systems preferred.
• 1–3 years of estimating and proposal development experience.
• Familiarity with low-voltage equipment, materials, and specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with estimating software and performing take-offs.
• AccuBid experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Reliable attendance at customer sites; flexible schedule including occasional evenings/weekends.
• Up to 25% travel; valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Must pass a background check.

Physical Requirements

• Extended use of computers and sitting for long periods.
• Ability to reach, handle objects, and use fine motor skills (e.g., keyboarding).
• Ability to listen, speak clearly, read, and understand written and verbal information.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
• Benefits: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Sick Leave (as required by law)
