IT Automation Project Manager

Piper Companies is seeking an IT Automation Project Manager to support one of our partners in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. This is a 12‑month contract based in Clayton, NC, focused on overseeing a portfolio of automation projects within a regulated GMP environment. The ideal candidate will provide strategic oversight and hands‑on coordination across diverse technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities of the IT Automation Project Manager:

• Lead end‑to‑end execution of IT automation projects within GMP manufacturing operations.
• Direct and coordinate cross‑functional project teams, managing timelines, task ownership, and communication across technical disciplines.
• Track project performance and address challenges that affect scope, scheduling, or resource allocation.
• Ensure installation, troubleshooting, qualification, and validation activities for equipment align with project goals and regulatory expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement by recognizing process inefficiencies and recommending new project opportunities.

Qualifications for the IT Automation Project Manager:

• At least five years of experience working with IT automation technologies.
• A minimum of five years supporting pharmaceutical or similarly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Proven ability to manage complex technical projects from initiation through completion.
• Strong working knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA, MES, and standard IT/OT automation platforms.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools—including MS Project—along with strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.

Compensation for the IT Automation Project Manager:

• Salary Range: $160,000–$180,000 per year (USD)
• Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, applicable sick leave, and 401(k)
