Piper Companies is seeking a Test Engineer to support a government‑focused security monitoring program involving custom tooling and advanced detection engineering. The Test Engineer role is ideal for someone experienced in building detailed test plans from defined outcomes, understanding complex systems, and adapting within a highly dynamic customer environment. The Test Engineer role is a long term contract opportunity.
Responsibilities of the Test Engineer:
- Create comprehensive test plans based on well‑defined customer outcomes, including required artifacts and validation steps.
- Translate workflows such as alert → case → enrichment into structured test scenarios.
- Collaborate with engineering and analyst teams supporting security monitoring and endpoint/server detection processes.
- Execute testing across custom tools used within a SOC environment, validating functionality, usability, and performance.
- Identify, document, and troubleshoot issues while recommending corrective actions.
- Remotely access and test features within lab environments where tooling is being built.
Requirements of the Test Engineer:
- Strong experience creating detailed test plans and test artifacts from defined business or operational outcomes.
- Background in technical troubleshooting—candidates with prior TAC experience are highly encouraged due to strong problem‑solving alignment.
- Familiarity with SOC operations, custom security tooling, and endpoint/server detection workflows.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent change and evolving customer needs.
Compensation for the Test Engineer:
- $115,000 - $130,000
- Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
