Senior Project Manager

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of regulated and non-regulated work within a bioanalytical laboratory. The Senior Project Manager will manage both internal laboratory initiatives (such as assay, system, and equipment validation) and external client programs involving method qualification, validation, and sample analysis.

*This role is 100% on-site work in Gaithersburg, MD.

Responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager:

·       Partner with Bioanalytical Principal Investigators, Client Services, and cross‑functional stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and staffing needs

·       Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including milestones, deliverables, and resource assignments

·       Monitor project progress and performance, providing routine status updates to project leaders and laboratory leadership

·       Manage project changes using approved change‑control processes to ensure scope, timelines, and budgets remain aligned with customer needs

·       Create and maintain daily laboratory schedules for analytical testing and supporting activities such as data review, reagent preparation, inventory oversight, and facility upkeep.

·       Ensure project execution aligns with GLP and/or GCLP expectations for regulated bioanalytical studies.

·       Support audit readiness by promoting compliant documentation practices and consistent use of validated processes.

·       Collaborate with senior laboratory leadership to identify opportunities for workflow optimization and efficiency gains

·       Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving turnaround times, capacity planning, and resource utilization

Qualifications of the Senior Project Manager:

·       5+ years of experience managing projects in a regulated bioanalytical, clinical research OR CRO environment

·       Certification in Project Management or equivalent (highly preferred)

·       Working knowledge of GLP/GCLP principles as applied to nonclinical and clinical bioanalysis

·       Solid understanding of bioanalytical laboratory operations and regulated workflows

·       Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey risks, timelines, and data‑related issues

·       Effective leadership style with the ability to set expectations and drive accountability.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with enterprise project management or scheduling software (e.g., MS Project) highly desirable

·       Ability to collaborate across departments and with external clients while maintaining professionalism under pressure

·       Proven success coordinating complex, high‑throughput laboratory programs

·       Bachelor’s degree in life science field

Compensation of the Senior Project Manager:

·        Salary: Between $120,000 - $150,000 based on years of relevant experience
