Senior Mainframe Software Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Mainframe Software Engineer to support a leader in the brokerage industry for a hybrid role based in Merrimack, NH. The Senior Mainframe Software Engineer will be responsible for understanding the mainframe ecosystem to maintain and modernize the mainframe systems while integrating with distributed and cloud architectures to improve system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

• Streamline modernization efforts across the platform
• Elevating the stability and performance of the platform
• Ensuring reliably delivery and operational excellence through strong engineering practices, documentation, and risk management actions
• Promoting production stability by reducing incidents, improving resilience, and ensuring consistent, high-quality performance

Qualifications for the Senior Mainframe Software Engineer include:

·      6+ years of mainframe engineering experience

·      Proven experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, batch/online processing, IOM, and enterprise batch scheduling tool

·      Proficient with SQL, DB2, Oracle, and Postgres

·      Proven experience in designing, engineering, optimizing mission-critical mainframe applications, modernizing legacy systems and integrating with distributed or cloud architectures

·      Experience with using Agile methodologies

·      Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields with 6+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience

Compensation for the Senior Mainframe Software Engineer:

·      Salary Range: $115,000-$130,000 USD per year based on professional experience
