Piper Companies is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead system-level hardware development for a fast‑growing technology organization. The Hardware Engineering Manager will combine deep technical expertise with strong program leadership, guiding teams from early prototypes through full production while working onsite five days per week in Saratoga, California.
Responsibilities of the Hardware Engineering Manager:
• Lead system-level hardware development from concept, prototype, and validation through mass production
• Drive programs to meet Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Budget targets
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans including goals, schedules, risks, mitigations, and status
• Present program updates and milestones in formal Commit and Review forums
• Manage ODM/JDM partners to ensure timely delivery and high-quality execution
• Make hands-on architectural and design decisions while mentoring engineering teams
• Bridge technical execution and program leadership to align cross-functional stakeholders
• Ensure adherence to hardware design processes and industry best practices
Qualifications of the Hardware Engineering Manager:
• 10+ years of experience in system-level hardware development
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Background as a hands-on hardware engineer prior to entering management
• Strong understanding of hardware design processes and production ramp requirements
• Experience managing external development partners (ODM/JDM)
• Not a Director-level role; appropriate for Manager or Senior Manager level candidates
• Excellent presentation, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills
Compensation for the Hardware Engineering Manager includes:
• Salary range: $210,000 – $270,000 depending on experience
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
• Full-time onsite role in Saratoga, CA (5 days per week)
