Director of AI

Piper Companies is seeking a Director of Artificial Intelligence to join a life insurance company, through hybrid work in Frederick, MD. This role will lead enterprise AI and generative AI initiatives that support digital transformation, operational efficiency, and improved customer experiences. The Director will partner with technology and business leaders to deliver scalable, compliant AI solutions with measurable impact.

Responsibilities of the Director of Artificial Intelligence: 

• Define and execute an enterprise AI strategy aligned with business and digital transformation goals.

• Lead the development and deployment of AI and generative AI solutions across core business functions.

• Drive AI platform, vendor, and build‑versus‑buy decisions within the Azure ecosystem.

• Establish governance and compliance standards to ensure responsible and effective AI adoption.

Qualifications of the Director of Artificial Intelligence: 

• 15+ years of technology leadership experience, including 3+ years delivering enterprise AI or machine learning solutions.

• Experience leading AI initiatives in regulated environments with strong governance and risk awareness.

• Expertise in Microsoft Azure, AI platforms, and cloud‑native architectures; proficiency in Python preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Compensation of the Director of Artificial Intelligence: 

• Salary Range: $178,000 - $258,000 (depending on experience)
