Piper Companies is seeking a Director of Business Development responsible for driving aggressive regional net new business growth and expanding market presence. This position requires strong sales leadership, strategic planning capabilities, and the ability to execute high‑impact commercial initiatives to meet annual revenue targets. The candidate will be sitting remote in San Francisco, CA.


Responsibilities for the Director of Business Development:

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve annual net new business and revenue goals.
  • Lead pipeline generation efforts, including identifying new opportunities, developing market penetration strategies, and driving RFP volume.
  • Partner with cross‑functional commercial teams to analyze market trends, competitive insights, and customer needs to shape territory growth plans.
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle, from prospecting and qualification through proposal development, pricing discussions, and contract negotiation.

Qualifications for the Director of Business Development:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Clinical or Life Sciences‑related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of strong experience in CRO sales, clinical research business development, or related life sciences commercial roles.
  • Deep understanding of clinical trial industry dynamics, biotech market trends, and customer buying behaviors.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets, generating new business, and managing KPI‑driven sales performance.

Compensation for the Director of Business Development:

  • $150,000–$200,000
  • Comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, holidays, and sick leave as required by law.
  • Remote with travel requirements.
