Global Head of Data Science (Contract Research Organization)

Piper Companies is seeking a Global Head of Data Science to lead a global data science organization within a mid-size Global CRO. The Global Head of Data Science role focuses on setting enterprise data science strategy, driving commercial growth, and owning the global P&L across Clinical Data Management, Biostatistics, and Statistical Programming. The Global Head of Data Science role is a direct placement role and allows you to work remotely within the United States with travel.

Responsibilities of the Global Head of Data Science:

• Define and execute the global data science vision, unifying Clinical Data Management, Biostatistics, and Statistical Programming.
• Position data science as a key commercial differentiator and driver of revenue growth.
• Own global P&L responsibility, including pricing, margins, and investment decisions.
• Shape and evolve data science service offerings based on market demand and regulatory trends.
• Serve as senior scientific advisor and executive sponsor for key global clients and regulators.
• Establish governance and compliance standards to ensure global inspection readiness.
• Guide practical innovation across analytics, AI/ML, automation, and real-world data.

Requirements of the Global Head of Data Science:

• Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MSc, or equivalent) in a quantitative or life sciences discipline.
• 20+ years of leadership experience within CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environments.
• Proven experience leading global, multi-disciplinary data science organizations.
• Demonstrated global P&L ownership and strong commercial orientation.
• Extensive experience engaging senior sponsors and global regulatory authorities.

Compensation for the Global Head of Data Science:

• $300,000 - $350,000 base salary
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
