Director of IT Operations (Hybird)

Piper Companies is seeking a Director of IT Operations to join a life insurance company, through hybrid work in Frederick, MD. This leadership role focuses on modernizing IT operations and delivering a high‑quality digital workplace and employee technology experience. The Director will lead operational transformation initiatives, oversee IT service performance, and partner closely with infrastructure, security, and business leaders to improve reliability, usability, and resilience across enterprise IT services.

Responsibilities of the Director of IT Operations:  

• Lead and evolve an enterprise IT operations and digital workplace strategy focused on experience‑driven service delivery and continuous improvement.

• Oversee IT service performance, including service desk operations, end‑user computing, collaboration tools, and vendor‑provided services.

• Establish experience‑based metrics and reporting to drive proactive improvements across IT services, support models, and operational processes.

• Provide leadership for IT resilience and disaster recovery planning to ensure business continuity and reliable technology outcomes.

Qualifications of the Director of IT Operations:  

• 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including managing enterprise IT operations, service delivery, and digital workplace environments.

• Proven experience leading operational transformation initiatives, including service management, vendor oversight, and performance improvement.

• Strong understanding of IT service management, digital workplace technologies, and enterprise infrastructure operations.

• Experience working in regulated or highly governed environments preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Compensation of the Director of IT Operations:  

• Salary Range: $141,300 – $194,300 + 20% bonus (depending on experience)
