Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Chassis/Enclosures) to lead the mechanical architecture of high‑performance computing hardware. The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Chassis/Enclosures) role is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in sheet‑metal chassis and enclosure design within the data center and advanced computing hardware industry. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Chassis/Enclosures) role requires you to sit on site in Saratoga, CA 5 days per week.
Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer (Chassis/Enclosures):
- Lead mechanical design and architecture of rack‑mounted systems, including sheet‑metal chassis, enclosures, and structural frames.
- Design board‑level mounting structures, card cages, PSU mounts, and cable management solutions.
- Develop manufacturable sheet‑metal designs with attention to tolerances, PEM hardware, grounding, and EMI.
- Collaborate with thermal teams to integrate liquid cooling hardware, airflow ducting, and cooling structures.
- Drive DFM/DFA, support EVT/DVT builds, and partner with ODMs and manufacturers through production.
Requirements of the Senior Mechanical Engineer (Chassis/Enclosures):
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for electronics hardware.
- Hands‑on experience with sheet‑metal chassis and enclosures for rack‑mounted systems.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
- Strong understanding of sheet‑metal fabrication, tolerance stack‑ups, and DFM/DFA principles.
Compensation for the Senior Mechanical Engineer (Chassis/Enclosures):
- $210,000 - $260,000 plus equity
