Network Security Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Security Engineer for a world leading technology organization within the cloud and digital infrastructure industry. The Network Security Engineer role is focused on enhancing the security, reliability, and visibility of large-scale network environments through advanced observability and automation practices. An ideal candidate for the Network Security Engineer role has a strong background in network security engineering combined with hands-on experience building automated, infrastructure-as-code driven solutions using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.

Responsibilities of the Network Security Engineer:

• Design, implement, and operate network security observability solutions to monitor traffic, detect threats, and improve incident response.

• Automate secure network infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management using Terraform.

• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks to enforce network security configurations and compliance standards.

• Build Python-based tools and scripts to enhance security monitoring, alerting, and automated remediation.

• Collaborate with SRE, network, and security teams to improve the resilience and security posture of network services.

• Define and track security-focused SLIs, SLOs, and operational metrics related to network performance and threat detection.

• Participate in security incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews with an emphasis on prevention through automation.

Qualifications of the Network Security Engineer:

• 5+ years of experience in network security engineering, infrastructure security, or related roles.

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation.

• Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Proficiency with Ansible for configuration management and security automation.

• Strong Python skills for developing automation, security tooling, and observability integrations.

• Experience with network security monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.

• Familiarity with cloud networking and security concepts in AWS, Azure, or GCP is strongly preferred.

Compensation for the Network Security Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $120,000 - $170,000

• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, Sick Leave as required by law
