Piper Companies is seeking a motivated Project Engineer II (Telecom/Construction focus) to plan, design, and execute structured cabling and telecom infrastructure projects for a design-build, and engineering organization out of the Atlanta, GA area. The Project Engineer II will support mission critical and data center environments.
Responsibilities of the Project Engineer II:
· Develop and coordinate telecommunications designs for mission‑critical facilities, including structured cabling, equipment layouts, pathways, and grounding systems for inside and outside plant infrastructure
· Produce clear, constructible engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications, cable schedules, labeling plans, and acceptance test documentation using Revit/CAD/BIM tools
· Coordinate technical requirements with clients, project teams, field leadership, and other disciplines to ensure constructability and system integration
· Support construction and commissioning by resolving technical issues, conducting site surveys, responding to RFIs, and assisting with schedule and budget considerations
· Apply quality control standards and industry codes to ensure engineering deliverables meet project and organizational requirements
Qualifications of the Project Engineer II:
· 2-3+ years of experience working in a telecom/structured cabling or construction engineering organization
· Experience creating engineering deliverables, and drawings, specifications, cable schedules, labeling plans, etc.
· Working knowledge of inside/outside plant cabling systems (OSP/ISP), testing requirements, and industry standards (TIA, NFPA, BICSI)
· Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit for producing coordinated construction documents
· Strong communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills; able to work independently and within a project team
· Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
· Willingness to travel up to 10% and successfully complete required background screening (primarily out of one office location)
Compensation for the Project Engineer II:
· Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience
