Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation

Piper Companies is seeking a Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation to join a technology-driven organization focused on building reliable, high-trust internal platforms. The Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation role is ideal for a hands-on product leader who thrives in Scrum or SAFe environments and is passionate about operational excellence, automation, and data-driven trust in complex systems.

Responsibilities of the Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation:

• Serve as hands-on Product Owner and backlog owner within a Scrum or SAFe framework.

• Own and prioritize the product backlog for internal operational tools and automation platforms.

• Design and evolve workflows, automation, and event-driven capabilities that support operational scale.

• Partner closely with engineering, operations, and stakeholders to translate business needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Ensure operational correctness by proactively identifying failure modes that could erode platform trust.

• Champion data quality, observability, and reliability as core components of operational products.

• Continuously inspect and adapt product outcomes using metrics, feedback, and operational signals.

Qualifications of the Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation:

• Proven hands-on experience as a Product Owner or backlog owner in a Scrum or SAFe environment.

• Background supporting internal tools or operational products, including workflow design and automation.

• Strong understanding of event handling, system dependencies, and operational risk.

• High technical aptitude with the ability to collaborate deeply with engineering teams.

• Extreme attention to detail, particularly around edge cases, failure scenarios, and platform trust.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation for the Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation includes:

• Salary range: $135,000 – $155,000 depending on experience

• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
