Technical Implementation Manager

Piper Companies is seeking an Observability & Monitoring Implementation Manager to lead the enterprise‑wide rollout and adoption of an observability platform across the organization. This role requires a strong technical implementation background combined with people leadership, cross‑functional coordination, and the ability to drive standards and consistency at scale. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience implementing Datadog or similar observability platforms and has progressed into a leadership role, guiding teams through planning, execution, and long‑term operational success. This position is on-site with flexibility.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the implementation of an observability/monitoring platform (e.g., Datadog) across multiple teams and environments
• Manage and mentor engineers responsible for monitoring, logging, and observability implementations
• Define enterprise observability standards, implementation patterns, and best practices
• Partner with Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure, and Product leaders to drive adoption and alignment
• Translate organizational needs into scalable implementation strategies, roadmaps, and milestones
• Ensure observability solutions are implemented consistently and effectively across the organization
• Remove blockers, manage priorities, and drive execution in a fast‑moving environment
• Review designs and configurations to ensure technical quality, performance, and signal effectiveness
• Own documentation, enablement, and knowledge transfer to support sustainable operations
• Provide executive‑level updates on progress, risks, and outcomes

Qualifications:

• Manager‑level experience leading technical teams or major platform implementations
• Strong background in technical implementation across large or distributed organizations
• Solid knowledge of monitoring and observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces, alerting)
• Hands‑on experience implementing Datadog or comparable platforms (New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk Observability, Prometheus/Grafana, etc.)
• Ability to balance technical depth with leadership, communication, and delivery ownership
• Experience driving adoption and change across engineering teams
• Experience managing platform, SRE, or observability teams
• Cloud and hybrid environment exposure
• Familiarity with DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering practices
• Experience establishing observability KPIs and success metrics
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills

Compensation:

*6 Month Contract to Hire

$70.00/hr - $92.00/hr Full benefits - medical, dental, vision, PTO, holidays
