Piper Companies is seeking a Network Observability Engineer for a world leading technology organization. The Network Observability Engineer role is a remote position working EST hours. The Network Observability Engineer is supporting large-scale, complex enterprise networks with a strong focus on visibility, performance, and automation. An ideal candidate for the Network Observability Engineer role is a hands-on network professional with deep protocol knowledge and a passion for building automated, observable network environments.
Responsibilities of the Network Observability Engineer:
• Design, implement, and maintain network observability solutions to provide real-time visibility into network performance and health.
• Analyze network telemetry, traffic flows, logs, and metrics to proactively identify and resolve performance and reliability issues.
• Support and troubleshoot routing and switching environments utilizing BGP and other core network protocols.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions to improve network monitoring, configuration, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with network engineering, security, and SRE teams to integrate observability data into broader monitoring platforms.
• Continuously improve alerting, dashboards, and reporting to support operational and business needs.
Qualifications of the Network Observability Engineer:
• 4+ years of experience in network engineering or network operations roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with BGP and foundational networking protocols (OSPF, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).
• Experience with network observability tools and concepts such as telemetry, NetFlow, SNMP, logs, and metrics.
• Proficiency in automation and infrastructure-as-code tools including Python, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Experience working in large-scale or enterprise network environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Compensation for the Network Observability Engineer includes:
• Salary range: $120,000 – $175,000 depending on experience
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and sick leave as required by law
