Product Owner (Operational Products and Automation)

Piper Companies is seeking a Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation to lead the development of operational tools and automation for a global data center infrastructure organization. The Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation role is ideal for a product professional experienced in internal platforms, operational workflows, and data quality in always‑on environments. The Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation role is remote and a long term contract opportunity.

Responsibilities of the Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation:

• Own the roadmap for operational tools and automations that reduce manual effort and operational risk.
• Manage the product backlog, writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria aligned to operational outcomes.
• Partner closely with global operations, commissioning, and command center teams to prioritize high‑impact workflows.
• Own data quality governance, including dashboards, scoring frameworks, and readiness criteria.
• Lead the Minimum Viable Infrastructure (MVI) framework and site onboarding prioritization.
• Define KPIs for adoption, efficiency, and operational impact.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies and make scope and tradeoff decisions as needed.

Requirements of the Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation:

• Hands-on Product Owner or backlog ownership experience in Scrum or SAFe environments.
• Experience with internal tools, workflow automation, and operational platforms.
• Strong technical aptitude with attention to operational correctness and failure modes.
• Proven experience partnering with operations or other internal user groups.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort presenting to leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred experience supporting 24/7 operational teams.
• Preferred familiarity with event/alarm management, data center infrastructure, and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, CMDB).

Compensation for the Product Owner – Operational Products and Automation:

• $130,000 - $150,000
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
