Piper Companies is seeking a Hardware Manager to join a fast paced, collaborative systems engineering team supporting delivery of complex, high-performance hardware platforms. This role focuses on leading system development from concept through production, with a strong emphasis on chassis-level system architecture that integrates high-speed electronics, enclosure design, cabling, cooling, and manufacturability. The Hardware Manager is a fulltime opportunity and will be required to be onsite 5 days a week in Saratoga, CA.

Responsibilities for the Hardware Manager include:

·      Translating high‑level product and system requirements into detailed hardware and chassis‑level specifications, ensuring alignment across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing domains.

·      Owning overall system architecture at the chassis level, including board placement, interconnect strategy, connectors, cabling, airflow, cooling solutions, and serviceability considerations.

·      Overseeing hardware development activities including schematic capture, PCB layout, and design reviews, with accountability for quality and design robustness.

·      Managing the creation and execution of comprehensive test plans, including Bring‑Up, EDVT, MDVT, EMI/EMC, and system‑level validation.

·      Building and maintaining end‑to‑end project plans, including milestones, risks, mitigation strategies, and status reporting for commit and review checkpoints.

·      Managing and coordinating ODM/JDM partners, ensuring technical deliverables, schedules, and quality expectations are met.

·      Leading, mentoring, and growing a hardware development team, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and professional growth across the organization.

Qualifications for the Hardware Manager include:

·      Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.

·      10+ years of experience in system‑level hardware development within server, compute, storage, or networking environments.

·      Demonstrated experience defining and delivering chassis‑level system architectures, including enclosure integration, cabling, connectors, cooling, and overall platform layout.

·      Strong proficiency in high‑speed technologies such as Ethernet, PCIe, SerDes, and Optical interconnects.

·      Solid understanding of high‑speed PCB design, including signal and power integrity best practices.

·      Working knowledge of FPGA architectures, clocking schemes, power circuits, and board‑level implementation.

·      Broad system knowledge spanning PCBs, chassis, connectors/cabling, power delivery, thermals, and mechanical integration.

·      Prior exposure to or responsibility for program or project management in complex hardware development efforts.

·      Strong people management and mentorship skills, with experience building high‑performing engineering teams.

Compensation for the Hardware Manager includes:

·      Salary range: $245,000 - $265,000

·      Comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, holidays, and sick leave as required by law.
