System Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Systems Engineer to support and maintain critical infrastructure for a technology-driven organization. The Systems Engineer role is ideal for an engineer with deep Linux expertise, strong Python scripting skills, and experience supporting stable, secure systems.

Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer:

• Administer, support, and optimize Linux-based systems with a heavy focus on RHEL and CentOS environments.

• Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate system tasks, monitoring, and operational workflows.

• Perform system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning across production environments.

• Manage system configurations, patching, and upgrades to ensure security and reliability.

• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support application and infrastructure needs.

• Maintain documentation for system architecture, processes, and automation scripts.

Qualifications of the Systems Engineer:

• 4+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or Linux-focused Infrastructure Engineer.

• Strong hands-on experience with RHEL and CentOS in enterprise environments.

• Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and system administration tasks.

• Solid understanding of Linux system internals, networking, and security best practices.

• Experience working in remote or distributed engineering teams.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.

Compensation for the Systems Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $115,000 – $145,000 depending on experience
