Piper Companies is seeking a QC Microbiology Associate to support GMP manufacturing operations with a focus on environmental monitoring, utility sampling, and routine microbiological testing. This position is based onsite in Durham, NC. This company combines cutting‑edge science with a mission‑driven, unconventional approach to addressing complex healthcare challenges, including rare diseases and advanced organ technologies.
Responsibilities of the QC Microbiology Associate:
- Perform environmental monitoring, including viable and non‑viable air, surface, and personnel sampling in classified cleanroom environments
- Collect and process utility samples (e.g., purified water, WFI, compressed gases) and perform bioburden testing
- Conduct routine microbiological testing, including bioburden and endotoxin (LAL) testing
- Prepare media and reagents, operate autoclaves, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
- Accurately document test results in compliance with cGMP and GDP requirements
- Trend data and support investigations, deviations, and CAPAs as needed
- Follow SOPs and support audits, inspections, and general laboratory upkeep
Qualifications of the QC Microbiology Associate:
- 1–3+ years of QC Microbiology experience in a GMP or regulated environment
- Hands‑on experience with environmental monitoring and microbiological testing (bioburden and/or endotoxin)
- Familiarity with aseptic technique, cleanroom operations, and utility sampling
- Working knowledge of cGMP, USP, and basic microbiology principles
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
Compensation for the QC Microbiology Associate:
- Salary: $50,000 – $70,000 commensurate with experience
