Azure Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking an Azure Engineer to support and enhance cloud infrastructure for a client operating within the government contracting and secure services industry. The Azure Engineer role is ideal for a hands-on cloud professional with strong Azure experience, deep Active Directory knowledge, and a background in building and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) solutions in high-security (IL5) environments.

Responsibilities of the Azure Engineer:

• Design, build, and maintain Azure-based infrastructure in a secure, IL5-compliant environment

• Architect and implement Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) solutions, including image management, scaling, and performance optimization

• Support and administer Active Directory, Azure AD, and identity integrations across hybrid environments

• Collaborate directly with customers to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and troubleshoot issues

• Monitor, maintain, and improve cloud reliability, security, and performance

• Partner with internal engineering, security, and operations teams to support cloud modernization efforts

Qualifications of the Azure Engineer:

• 5+ years of experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and architecture

• Proven experience building and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), preferably in IL5 or other regulated environments

• Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, group policy, and identity management

• Customer-facing experience with strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments (on-prem + Azure)

Compensation for the Azure Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $130,000 – $150,000 depending on experience
