Project Wastewater Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Project Wastewater Engineer to support a large-scale industrial manufacturing organization for a 12-month onsite contract position based out of Clayton, NC. The Project Wastewater Engineer will play a key role in supporting execution and commissioning of a complex industrial water and wastewater reuse capital project within a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities of the Project Wastewater Engineer include:

· Provide hands-on engineering support for an active industrial wastewater and water reuse capital project during construction and startup phases.

· Review and provide technical feedback on engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor submittals.

· Support field execution through onsite coordination, walkdowns, RFI resolution, and verification of installed systems.

· Collaborate closely with EPCM partners, equipment vendors, and site operations to address technical issues and maintain project alignment.

· Assist with commissioning, system startup, turnover to operations, and development of punch lists and closeout documentation.

Qualifications for the Project Wastewater Engineer include:

· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

· At least 5 years of experience supporting industrial wastewater treatment, water reuse, or process utility systems.

· Demonstrated experience contributing to capital projects through design, construction, and commissioning phases.

· Working knowledge of biological treatment processes, membrane technologies, and advanced industrial wastewater systems.

· Ability to work effectively onsite with construction teams in a regulated, brownfield manufacturing setting.

Compensation for the Project Wastewater Engineer:

Salary Range: $175,000-$200,000/year (USD)
