Piper Companies is seeking a Wastewater Process Engineer to support a large-scale, long-term wastewater reuse project within the industrial manufacturing sector. The Wastewater Process Engineer will focus on wastewater-specific process design, commissioning, and regulatory compliance for a complex, fully funded program exceeding $100M. The Wastewater Process Engineer is a long term contract opportunity and requires you to work onsite in Clayton, NC 5 days per week.
Responsibilities of the Wastewater Process Engineer:
- Support completion of detailed design (currently ~60%) for wastewater and liquid waste systems
- Review design deliverables, specifications, and vendor documentation
- Support integration with the construction partner and procurement activities
- Play a key role in commissioning planning and system startup
- Act as a wastewater SME to ensure compliance during system turnover to operations
- Support a multi-phase project with a go-live target of EOQ2 2028
Requirements of the Wastewater Process Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Civil, or related)
- 5+ years of hands-on wastewater process engineering project experience
- Experience supporting design, construction, and commissioning phases
- Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment and water reuse systems
- Familiarity with North Carolina wastewater and water reuse permitting
- Understanding of drinking water and wastewater regulatory requirements
- Ability to work effectively within a lean project team
Compensation for the Wastewater Process Engineer:
- $75.00 - $100.00 per hour
