Principal SDET

Piper Companies is seeking a Principal SDET to provide technical leadership and hands-on quality engineering for a leader in the finance industry. The Principal SDET role is ideal for a senior QA professional with deep experience in test automation and API testing within complex enterprise systems. This position is a fulltime W2 contract for 18 months with potential to extend.

Responsibilities of the Principal SDET:

• Lead the design and implementation of automated testing strategies across applications and APIs.

• Develop and maintain robust API test automation frameworks.

• Write and execute automated tests using Java-based tools and frameworks.

• Utilize Cucumber and Serenity for behavior-driven development and reporting.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed quality throughout the SDLC.

• Mentor QA and SDET team members on best practices and automation standards.

Qualifications of the Principal SDET:

• Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.

• 8+ years of experience in QA, test automation, or SDET roles.

• Strong hands-on experience with API test automation.

• Proficiency with Java-based test automation frameworks.

• Experience with Cucumber and Serenity.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern testing practices.

Compensation for the Principal SDET includes:

• Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000
