Principal Systems Analyst

Piper Companies is seeking a Principal Systems Analyst to support data-driven initiatives for a leader in the finance industry. The Principal Systems Analyst role is ideal for a senior analyst with strong SQL expertise and the ability to trace data lineage and connect data to business and technical requirements. This position is a fulltime W2 contract for 18 months with potential to extend.

Responsibilities of the Principal Systems Analyst:

• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather and document system requirements.

• Analyze complex datasets to support reporting, analytics, and operational needs.

• Track data lineage and ensure data consistency across systems and platforms.

• Translate business requirements into clear functional and technical documentation.

• Support data validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution efforts.

• Act as a key liaison between engineering, data, and business teams.

Qualifications of the Principal Systems Analyst:

• 8+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst or in a similar role.

• Strong SQL skills with experience analyzing large, complex datasets.

• Proven ability to track and document data lineage.

• Data-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.

• Experience working in financial services or highly regulated environments.

Compensation for the Principal Systems Analyst includes:

• Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000
