Linux Infrastructure Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer for a world leading technology organization. The Linux Infrastructure Engineer role is remote position with limited travel. The Linux Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and securing enterprise Linux environments while working closely with a Security Operations Center (SOC). An ideal candidate for the Linux Infrastructure Engineer role is a hands-on infrastructure professional with strong Linux administration skills and experience partnering with security teams in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities of the Linux Infrastructure Engineer:

• Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

• Partner closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to support security monitoring, incident response, and threat remediation efforts.

• Implement system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation in alignment with security best practices and SOC guidance.

• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliability and uptime.

• Automate system configuration and operational tasks using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

• Troubleshoot complex system, network, and security-related issues across multiple environments.

Qualifications of the Linux Infrastructure Engineer:

• 5+ years of experience administering Linux systems in production environments.

• Strong expertise with Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, or Ubuntu.

• Experience collaborating with a SOC or security teams on incident response, monitoring, and compliance initiatives.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python.

• Familiarity with system security controls, vulnerability management, and logging/monitoring tools.

• Exposure to cloud platforms, virtualization, or container technologies is a plus.

Compensation for the Linux Infrastructure Engineer:

• Salary range: $120,000 - $160,000
