Senior Software Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a rapidly growing healthcare technology startup. This role will focus on building a greenfield, internal platform designed to unify patient data and support community-based care for Medicaid populations across multiple states. This is a remote opportunity with occasional travel required for key team meetings.

Responsibilities of the Senior Software Engineer:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS
• Contribute to greenfield architecture decisions, including system design, service boundaries, and infrastructure strategy
• Utilize AI-powered development tools (e.g., Claude or similar) to enhance development efficiency, testing, and delivery
• Build and support distributed, event-driven systems with a strong focus on scalability and performance
• Apply best practices for secure coding and support application and infrastructure security standards
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams in a fast-paced, startup environment
• Participate in technical discussions, including system design sessions and live coding interviews

Requirements for the Senior Software Engineer:

• 6+ years of experience building scalable web or backend systems
• Strong full-stack background with modern JavaScript frameworks and cloud platforms
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day work
• Solid understanding of system design, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Willingness to travel occasionally for team collaboration

Compensation for the Senior Software Engineer:

• Base Salary: $170,000 – $180,000
