Piper Companies is seeking a Director of Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineering to support a leading global technology organization. This role will lead enterprise IAM strategy, engineering, and operations while driving the implementation of modern identity solutions across hybrid cloud environments. This position will be hybrid in Reston, VA (2 days onsite per week) and offers strong executive visibility and long-term growth potential.

Responsibilities of the Director of IAM include:

• Lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of the enterprise IAM program aligned with security and business objectives

• Oversee implementation and operation of IAM platforms including PAM, IGA, access management, and MFA

• Drive ongoing IAM initiatives such as PAM rollout, IAM modernization, and MS Entra ID hybrid implementations

• Establish and maintain IAM architecture standards across on-prem, cloud, and SaaS environments

• Act as a player-coach, providing hands-on leadership while mentoring and developing engineering teams

• Manage cross-functional collaboration with InfoSec, Architecture, and Technology teams to align priorities and reduce risk

• Identify and resolve organizational bottlenecks while driving adoption of IAM solutions across the enterprise

• Lead vendor management efforts including evaluation, selection, and ongoing partnerships

• Support IAM governance processes including lifecycle management, least privilege access, and compliance activities

• Present roadmap progress, risks, and strategic updates to executive leadership

• Manage IAM budget planning, vendor spend, and long-term strategic investments

Required Qualifications for the Director of IAM:

• 15+ years of experience in IAM, cybersecurity, or related engineering roles

• 6+ years of people management experience leading technical teams

• Hands-on experience implementing and integrating IAM platforms in enterprise, hybrid environments

• Strong expertise in PAM, IGA, access management, and identity services

• Experience with tools such as SailPoint, BeyondTrust, Microsoft Entra ID, AWS IAM, or similar

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels

• Strong communication and presentation skills with executive-level exposure

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience driving IAM transformation initiatives (PAM rollout, cloud IAM adoption, etc.)

• Background in banking, financial services, healthcare, or enterprise for-profit organizations

• Experience with identity protocols such as SAML, OAuth, OIDC, LDAP

• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or IAM/vendor-specific certifications

• Experience with hybrid cloud migrations and IAM modernization

Compensation for the Director of IAM includes:

• Salary Range: $180,700 – $244,500 depending on experience

• Bonus: ~25% target bonus + RSU equity
