Site Reliability Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to support a growing client in the enterprise technology industry in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. The Site Reliability Engineer role requires you to sit onsite 3 days a week and is ideal for an engineer with strong experience in cloud platforms, automation, and building resilient, observable systems.

Responsibilities of the Site Reliability Engineer include:

• Establish proactive monitoring strategies by implementing synthetic checks across critical systems, APIs, and services.

• Create and manage observability solutions, including dashboards, alert tuning, and telemetry improvements to drive actionable insights.

• Build and maintain automation tools and scripts to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.

• Investigate and resolve production issues while contributing to post-incident reviews and long-term reliability enhancements.

• Continuously refine cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure to strengthen performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.

Requirements of the Site Reliability Engineer include:

• Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED

• Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, etc.) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.

• Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and tooling.

• Experience with observability platforms such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar tools.

• Hybrid schedule requirement: ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Raleigh-Durham, NC.

Compensation for the Site Reliability Engineer include:

• $150,000 – $165,000 OTE annually
