QA Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a remote QA Engineer to support software testing and quality assurance efforts within a growing development team.This role will focus on manual testing, test case development, and defect identification, while partnering closely with developers and senior QA team members to ensure high-quality software delivery. This is a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes and tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute manual testing on new and existing software features
• Write, review, and maintain detailed test cases and test plans
• Collaborate with senior QA team members to validate test coverage and approach
• Identify, document, and track bugs and defects throughout the development lifecycle
• Perform API and data validation testing using SQL and JSON
• Work closely with development teams to validate fixes and enhancements
• Contribute to overall QA processes and continuous improvement initiatives
• Proactively test applications from multiple angles to ensure functionality and performance

Required Qualifications (Non‑Negotiable)

• 2–4 years of experience in manual QA testing
• Strong experience with SQL for data validation and testing
• Experience working with JSON data structures
• Experience writing and executing test cases
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects
• Self-starter with strong communication skills and ability to learn quickly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing Web APIs
• Experience with Azure DevOps or Jira for test management and defect tracking
• Exposure to Agile or SDLC environments

Compensation:

• Hourly Rate: $40 – $52/hour (contract)
• Conversion Salary: $80,000 – $95,000 annually
• This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position.
• Remote opportunity (preference for candidates located in the Tri-State area).
