Chief of Staff – Consumer Banking

Piper Companies is seeking a Chief of Staff – Consumer Banking to support the Senior Vice President of Consumer Banking for a nationally recognized credit union headquartered in Mclean, VA. The Chief of Staff – Consumer Banking will serve as a strategic partner and trusted extension of executive leadership, helping drive operational alignment, strategic initiatives, cross-functional execution, and organizational communication across a diverse consumer lending portfolio. This position will be hybrid in Mclean, VA, requiring onsite work at least 3 days per week.

Responsibilities of the Chief of Staff – Consumer Banking include:

• Serve as a strategic partner and operational liaison to the SVP of Consumer Banking
• Coordinate and prioritize cross-functional initiatives across lending products, operations, technology, and business teams
• Identify organizational bottlenecks, operational risks, and process gaps while driving resolution strategies
• Facilitate communication and alignment between executive leadership, internal teams, and external vendors
• Support strategic planning, executive presentations, leadership communications, and organizational initiatives
• Oversee and manage high-priority workstreams, project timelines, and program-level deliverables
• Act as a central point of coordination for key operational and strategic initiatives within the consumer banking organization
• Partner with stakeholders across technology, operations, finance, compliance, and product teams to drive execution
• Assist with governance, reporting, operational reviews, and executive-level decision support
• Support vendor coordination, partner management, and ongoing business optimization efforts
• Drive accountability and follow-through across multiple simultaneous initiatives in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications for the Chief of Staff – Consumer Banking include:

• 7+ years of experience in consumer banking, financial services, lending operations, program management, consulting, or strategic business operations
• Strong understanding of consumer lending products, banking operations, or member-focused financial services environments
• Experience managing cross-functional programs, operational initiatives, or executive-level business operations
• Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to operate effectively in highly visible executive-facing environments
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities
• Experience balancing tactical execution with long-term organizational planning
• Proven ability to influence across business and technical teams without direct authority
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications for the Chief of Staff – Consumer Banking include:

• Experience supporting executive leadership within banking, fintech, or credit union environments
• Background in program management, consulting, or operational transformation initiatives
• Familiarity with lending technology platforms, operational reporting, or business process optimization
• MBA or advanced business degree
• PMP or related project/program management certifications

Compensation for the Chief of Staff – Consumer Banking includes:

• Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 depending on experience
