Software Engineer

Piper Companies is hiring a Software Engineer for an insurance and annuities company located in the Raleigh-Durham Area. The Software Engineer will support with varies task, concept knowledge, and production maintenance. The Software Engineer role is a hybrid position. 

Responsibilities of the Software Engineer:

•  Develop reliable REST APIs and user interfaces. Build and maintain backend endpoints and front-end application screens.
• Optimize performance and remove bottlenecks. Analyze system slowdowns and improve overall software efficiency.
• Diagnose and resolve defects. Investigate issues in the codebase and implement effective fixes.
• Support automated testing efforts. Add unit tests and contribute to broader test automation coverage.
• Create clear technical documentation. Write and maintain documentation for both internal teams and external users.

Requirements of the Software Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• 2-5 years of full stack engineer experience is needed
• Proficient in JavaScript, React/ReactJS, Node, Typescript, and AWS
• Experience in relational database and error troubleshooting. 
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases

Compensation for the Software Engineer:

• $115,000-$135,000
• 10% bonus
• 7.5% LTIP
