Piper Companies is seeking an IT Network Engineer to support a site expansion project within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in Clayton, NC. The IT Network Engineer will provide network support while playing a key role in maintaining and enhancing network infrastructure across a large-scale, regulated production environment.
Responsibilities of the IT Network Engineer:
• Provide support for all network infrastructure devices and services across the site
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, resolve, and document issues related to switches, routers, firewalls, and network systems
• Support implementation and administration of enterprise network environments supporting 500+ users
• Assist with IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) deployment and physical network buildouts
• Support cabling and physical network infrastructure installation and maintenance
• Troubleshoot automation infrastructure within manufacturing/OT environments
• Support production line startup activities and provide ongoing operational support
• Assist with project implementation tasks including risk assessments, vendor coordination, and system deployment
• Maintain and monitor network management and infrastructure systems
• Develop and maintain network topology diagrams and documentation using Visio or similar tools
• Ensure compliance with FDA regulations related to computer-based systems and automation environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT, infrastructure, automation, and application teams
• Maintain accurate network and infrastructure documentation aligned with federal and corporate standards
• Support implementation and adherence to IT networking policies, procedures, and security measures
Qualifications of the IT Network Engineer:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience or 10+ years of direct network engineering experience
• Strong networking background is the primary focus, with deep understanding of networking principles and design
• Experience in manufacturing or Operational Technology (OT) environments
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting automation infrastructure and network systems
• Experience supporting production environments including line startup and operational support
• Knowledge of server systems and overall IT infrastructure
• Experience implementing and administering networks supporting 500+ clients preferred
• Experience with IDF deployment, structured cabling, and physical network infrastructure
• Proficiency with Visio and strong documentation skills
• Experience creating and maintaining network topology and design documentation
• Experience supporting network devices including switches, routers, and firewalls
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and network management systems
• Experience working in regulated environments (FDA or similar) preferred
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CCNP preferred
• Ability to coordinate across infrastructure, application, and networking teams
Compensation for the IT Network Engineer includes:
• Salary range:$110,000 - $150,000
