Piper Companies is seeking a Technical Writer to support an enterprise infrastructure and engineering team within a fast-growing technology-driven industry. The Technical Writer role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong experience in networking, IT automation, and process mapping who can translate complex systems into clear, actionable documentation.
Responsibilities of the Technical Writer:
• Document complex network topologies, automation pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC) environments to support engineering teams and end-users.
• Partner with SMEs to design, map, and document operational workflows, playbooks, and procedural processes.
• Build and maintain a centralized documentation repository in Confluence, organizing spaces, templates, and navigation for usability.
• Translate technical networking concepts into clear SOPs, MOPs, and step-by-step user guides for varying audiences.
• Manage document version control, ensuring updates reflect evolving infrastructure and automation scripts.
• Collaborate with network engineers, DevOps teams, and IT stakeholders to validate accuracy prior to publication.
Qualifications of the Technical Writer:
• 3+ years of experience as a technical writer within IT, networking, cloud, or engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including routing, switching, and firewalls.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io, and publishing within Confluence.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with Jira, GitHub, or similar ticketing/version control systems is a plus.
Compensation for the Technical Writer includes:
• Salary range: $90,000 - $135,000
